Great Yarmouth 19-20th June 2010
This was the first rally we rode the new GTS and it was a very smooth (if boring) ride up there. The first scooters we saw were Paul and Rappo from the Talismen, on the A12. We eventually got to Yarmouth (it always seems to take much longer than it should!) and checked into Fawlty Towers. I had my reservations, but it was cheap, and we realised why. It was very grubby, had bare electrical wires and the toilet seat kept falling off! But it was a bed for the night so we stayed put and headed for the pubs. Most of our normal haunts had shut down and it seemed like the recession had hit Yarmouth hard. Many of the cafes and restaurants looked like they were from the 70s and all seemed to be empty. We had a couple of drinks and then headed for the Long Bar to watch the England game. Rappo and Paul met us there and it turned out to be a typically frustrating performance and a boring 0-0 draw - I don't think we're going to get very far in the World Cup this year, yet again....
Next we went up to Tiffanys, which didn't look anything like I remember it from the 80s. Angelo Starr and his band played a brilliant set, and then Daz, Dave Porter and the gang played some great stuff and got me up on the dancefloor despite it being half empty!
On Saturday we went to the stalls in Tiffanys again, and there were a few custom scoots parked outside. We really couldn't be bothered to stay another night so chilled out during the day, went to a 70s 'restaurant' for lunch and then returned home. Not a great rally - it would have been so much better if there were more of our gang there - I think we were the only two from Sussex or Hampshire, or even Surrey too!
