The Bands

I have to say that I was very impressed with the bands this weekend.  In the past I've moaned about how many bands are on at these rallies and that they tend to go for quantity over quality.  Well, on Friday night there were only 2 bands in the main hall.  The first were Columbo and they were really good - a tribute band playing a mixture of covers from the likes of The Who, Small Faces etc.   The headliners were One Step Behind who played a brilliant set, I loved it!

On Saturday the first band were 2 Tonic, one of the main reasons I'd come this weekend.  They were great, with a mixture of covers and their own songs.  Buy their CD if you can, it's great!  I have to mention their bass player, who stepped in for More Specials' bassist a few weeks ago when both bands played at the Wedgewood Rooms.  He was thrown in at the deep end but was brilliant....   The final act on Saturday in the main room were The Affair.  I didn't get to see much of them as I was entertaining Sam in the amusements, but I caught their encore which was really good.   As we were heading to bed, we stopped by the Northern Room where Snake Davis And The Suspicions were playing.  They were fantastic!   I wish I'd been able to stay up to see them but it was gone 1 o'clock and Sam was fading fast....  The bands can either make or break a rally sometimes but this weekend they were spot on - well done!

I also can't talk about the music without mentioning Emma and Tony who played a great set of tunes that allowed me to have a decent dance, which I haven't really done for a while as I was too busy talking and drinking at Bridlington!
