Ace Cafe rideout to Brighton, September 9th 2001
The weather was kind to us as we rode to Brighton to join huge numbers of bikers and scooterists for the annual Ace Cafe Reunion rideout. There was more black leather than you could shake a stick at, but we held our own and had pole position outside the Volks bar which was blasting out some fantastic music - mainly soul and other 60's classics.
A rockabilly band was very popular with leather-clad linedancers but didn't really do much for me. There were some stunning trikes parked up but I wasn't overly impressed with the rest of the bikes - I prefer a stylish Lambretta any day! However, despite the obvious diversity of taste, everyone was mingling and it was a very friendly atmosphere - a towering Elvis-lookalike (or should that be Gene Vincent?) even posed happily for a photo with me - even though I look like a midget next to him!
Thanks to Tim for the one of me - take a look at skootaboyz.com for more photos of the rideout and other rallies.
