Modrapheniacs Rally, March 7th - 9th 2003
I apologise for the quality of the photos here. I've just had the camera 'mended' but the pictures all came out really blurry. They're not up to my usual standard but are better than nothing... Thanks to Jo for sending me some of her's, which are much better!
At last, the first rally of the year. Sadly, the weather let us down. We got as far as the nearest petrol station (Sam and I did anyway - we'd already lost Lee before the end of my road!) and it just tipped down. I wasn't prepared to risk Sam's safety, and my 'waterproofs' were already leaking! So, a quick phone call to Stacey was all it took to change our minds. Plan B it was....
Just to prove that we did in fact start off on two wheels, here's Sam proudly showing off Lee's new legshield banner!
Friday night. Hammy showed us his willy piercing, Parker followed suit. Hammy walked on broken glass, Rich fell asleep, Hammy weed on him and then Hammy fell asleep. An average night for the Pacemakers! The ska band were good and we managed a bit of a dance but the tiredness of the week caught up with me and I retired early. Stacey, apparently, didn't get in until 4am!
Saturday. The custom show and stalls were very overcrowded so we escaped to the bar. Champs then decided to try the Bucking Bronco which had been set up in the Northern Room. It was hilarious and he managed to stay on for 56 seconds! It was Ferdy's 40th birthday so the Pacemakers presented him with a watercolour of his Insane scoot (see Camber 2001 photos) which was painted by Parker's Dad. We headed for pubs in Wareham to celebrate but the Duke Of Wellington was a bit quiet and various people got told to mind their language. Off to the Red Lion to catch up with the footie scores. For about half an hour Leicester were losing to Sheffield Wednesday and I was over the moon. Then they equalised, but at least couldn't manage a winner. Pompey are still two points clear with a game in hand - phew! Got a text on the way back to the caravan site to say that Steve had won two trophies in the custom show and Jamie had got one - brilliant! We then watched Chelsea scrape a draw with Arsenal which made Jamie even happier, followed by Chinese from a local takeaway.
Saturday night started off a bit subdued but we soon livened up after a couple of drinks. I was mistaken twice for the owner of the Best In Show scooter - a Lambretta called Tutti Fruitti. The low point was some idiots letting off CS gas in the main room. I had to rush out as I couldn't breathe, it was really scary. We all moved to the Northern Room and stayed there til gone 3am, not wanting the weekend to finish.
It was a fantastic rally, well done again to the Modrapheniacs for providing great entertainment and value for money.
